A pragmatic-dialogic study about mitigation-intensification on irony and uncertainty

The corpus selected consists of 12 transcribed interviews (6 men and 6 women) which correspond to a high socioeducational level from El Habla de Monterrey PRESEEA. The objective includes the ironizing act (Ballart, 1994; Flores, 2008), as well as negation-uncertainty, based on the premises by the French school of discourse analysis, the strategic procedures of linguistic mitigation (Albelda & Cestero, 2010) and mitigation with pragmatic function at the service of the communicative interaction in conversation (Meyer-Herman, 1988; Briz, 1995, 1998).
