Abstract

This article aims to analyze the existing connection between the Chilean socialist renewal and the crisis of the European left during the eighties. Starting from the articles published between 1981 and 1991 in the journal Convergencia, this article explores the interpretation that “renewed” socialism made of the different European paradigms that intervened in its process of ideological redefi nition (Eurocommunism, Social Democracy, Real Socialism). The article also highlights how this sector rethought its identity, without limiting themselves to the importation of foreign models, sharing in this process, many of the dilemmas that affected the western European workers movement.
